I am currently using two Harmony Pro 890 remotes for 5 rooms. These remotes have almost bit the dust. Programming is not an issue as long as I can do it personally. If anyone has tried to program a Harmony 890 Pro then you know it could not get any more difficult.

I need Wifi, RF and or Zigsbee wireless control and again something I can program with included software.

I have been looking at picking up a newer RTI on ebay or the Phillips Pronto TSU9300. I would buy the Harmony 900 if it did multiroom control.

If anyone can shed some light or experience I would appreciate it.

Thanks,
Jason Baxter

RTI is not programable by endusers, so just move on. Pronto might be your best bet.

One important thing to remember, you will get no tech support from any manufactureer for a used or remote you buy from ebay.

Harmony has configuration software thats about as easy as you can get in terms of the average joe being able to do it themselves. If the 890 seemed difficult then you may want to adjust your assumptions about working with RTI and Pronto.

Can you define "multi-room"? Do you just need to use it in 2 rooms or are you trying to do a few rooms or more? Give us the scope of your project.

With pronto you can download the software but the programming application is going to be difficult to learn. The time investment is worth it in my opinion if you want to be able to tweak and upgrade constantly. The hardest 2 parts are #1. Knowing exactly how your system is wired and how to use discrete commands for activity macros. #2. How to use the software tools to edit the GUI and add/configure your devices and macros. Once you tackle these 2 tasks you can usually program the remote yourself. Once you have some experience you can start to tweak the programming and do some cool stuff that most people dont bother with.

The 890 Pro does not use the same software as the other Harmony's. It's there dealer only remote. It is not thats its hard to program just very tedicous.

I have 5 rooms running off the same equipment using RF currently, so my 890 Pro allows me to select the room I'm in and then use the watch or listen features for that room as well as control the equipment seperatly.
