I'm wondering if anyone knows of a remote control that could browse the PS3s menu system without having to turn on the TV? I use my PS3 for all of it's media functions and particularly to play music. I would prefer not to have my 50inch plasma on just to browse the menu and select songs. From doing a little reading I think that a PSP 3000 (remote play) would accomplish this function but I have no need otherwise for a PSP and would prefer it if one of the universal remotes out there with an LCD screen could do this. In addition I would like to be able to universally control my plasma, onkyo receiver and cable box (I'm not asking about the bluetooth to IR issue...I would purchase a dongle or convertor as needed). If anyone has any ideas about how to accomplish this task I would be psyched. Essentially I think I am talking about a Squeezebox-type remote that would work with the PS3.

Thanks!

The PS3 operates via Bluetooth, so none of the touchscreen remotes that do meta-data will comunicate with it without a third party interface device. Those devices only convert IR code into Bluetooth commands, not vice-versa. Some of the remotes have built in web browsers, so if you can convert the PS3 GUI into a webbrowser, then you can do it, but I've never heard of anyone doing that.

There's remote play via the PSP and... nothing else.

Also note that remote play is designed to play content from the PS3 back on the PSP, not select content on the PS3 for playback directly through it - so I'm not sure that what you want is even possible using the PSP.
