Hi folks,

First time poster here. I have a Dish 322 satellite receiver and a ReplayTV recorder. The Dish 322 has an issue that has bugged RTV and Tivo users for years. Every morning at 3am, the 322 takes an update and then goes into standby mode. Once in standby mode, the screen displays a logo with the message, "Press Select to Continue." Until Select is pressed, any attempt to record a show with a Tivo, RTV, or other recorder just results in a recording of the logo, a major problem for those who want to record shows while away for several days.

I've heard that the only effective solution for this issue is to get a universal remote that can control the 322 and can be programmed to send the Select command every day at 3:10am. However, the only remotes I have seen that appear to have the ability to be so programmed (I think it is called a "timed macro") seem to cost over $100.

Does anyone know of a reasonably priced remote that can be programmed to wake up my 322 every morning?

Thank you,
bill

If you set it to autotune to a show will it turn on?
There is a great need for a Sarcasm font!

Some people claim success with that method, but it doesn't seem to be working for me.

I had left Updates on Default (3am) and set an Auto Tune timer for 3:30am, but just the logo was on when I woke up at 7am and turned on the TV. Last night I set the RTV to record from 3am to 7am. It seems that the update did not occur until 4am. The timer worked as it should and changed the channel at 3:30am, but this was too early. Not sure why it took the update at 4am instead of 3am. I've changed the timer to 4:30am and hopefully it will work tonight. That would be an easy solution and would save me from having to buy a new remote..

Hurray, moving the timer to 430am seems to have cured the problem. I won't need to buy a new remote with a timer macro.
Thanks,
bill
