Have a Bose stereo (RF only) and X-10 home lighting and want a Universalr remote that can handle all of it.

I don't really care to remote my stuff from a different room. Just GOTTA have the RF to duplicate the Bose and X-10 signal.

Any ideas??

Thanks!

No remote can learn RF, There are remotes that send RF to theur own RF base units But one brand remote wont work with another brand RF base

So for the Bose RF remote, you will have to use the Bose remote. On some models of Bose there were some add ons that allowed 3rd party control of the RF systems

Also, which Bose system do you have? Alot of them come with RF remotes, but also have IR receivers on the main units so you can use third party remotes.

I thought that's what I said... Maybe it will sink in the second time.

I recently purchased a Samsung UN55B8000 LED LCD TV and it comes with an RF remote. I am frustrated to hear that there are 'no remotes that can learn from an RF signal'. My work around has been to borrow a remote for a Samsung UN55B7000 LED LCD TV, it is IR, and teach it to my UR RF20. 95% of everything works.

Do you think someone will be coming out with a remote that can learn from an RF remote?

So you are saying that it will not happen because a remote that learns RF could be used to learn the RF code of any RF device that is within range.

Seems like Samsung has some other plan in mind other than being able to completely integrate their latest LED TVs into folks home theater setups. I guess I should consider purchasing the 7000 model's IR romote (25$) to have around when I want to change my UR RF20.

I believe the new Samsung offers both IR (which can be used with any programmable/learning remote) and their proprietary RF.

An IR remote is not offered with the 8000 series and it is not something that the OEM sales people know anything about. My sales person did not even know that the 8000 came with an RF only remote. If a person with an 8000 series LED TV wants an IR remote that mostly works on the 8000 they first have to know the problem they are facing and second they will need to know the part number for the 7000 series remote and order one through Samsung.

The IR remote does not come with it but the 8000 series still accepts IR codes. The latest Samsung flat TV codes should work with it. At least that's what I'm reading all over, as I have to set up a TSU9300 for an 8000 on Monday.

URC has some BOSE IR codes in their database along with X10.
I wonder if these would work when converted to RF by the remote?
Instead of asking me why my price is high ask the other guys why they are low.

No.

The Bose IR codes are IR codes for units that accept IR. The X10 codes are IR codes that are sent to a master controller or other device that receives IR.

The RF communication with RF universal remote controls is ONLY between the remote and base station. The only exception i am aware of is URC-Lutron lighting.

Some Bose products can be switched from RF to IR receiving in their product software, typically for zone 1 operation.
