Hello all
I'd appreciate some feedback/pros/cons on a new URC remote. I am setting up a dedicated media room with a projector behind the seating area and the components (AVR, PreAmp w/HT bypass, PS3, DVD, CD player, Squeezebox, AT&T Uverse) in a closet (w/door removed) behind a fabric covered false wall.

I have an old Pronto TS1000 in my living room I programmed myself 10 years ago so I know with some time and patience (it took a lot then) I expect I can program a new remote myself. I do know I need a workaround for the PS3. While I'm not set in stone I pretty much have settled on a one of the following three remotes:

URC MX450
URC MX880
URC MX980

I'm also not completely clear on what the base stations do for me as it seems they are frequently recommended. Considering my setup what would I be missing with the 450 and as I move up the chain what am I gaining.

Thanks
Ron

An RF base station allows you to hide all of your gear in a cabinet. Your remote uses RF to communicate with the base station so you dont need an IR receiver (like you would need with an IR repeater system).

The 980 has a charging station and is PC programmable. The MX880 has a charging cable and the MX-450 requires 4 double A batteries. The MX-450 is wizard based 'on the remote' programming.

I would probably choose the 980 because of the charging cradle but they will all work for your application.

Any other differences besides the charging between 880 and 980?

Not that it is a requirement but will either work as a single remote for two rooms?

Either will work as a single remote for 2 rooms but its always better to have one per room.

880 has 6 soft keys and 980 has 8.

880 has a hard button for record near the other transports for DVR control.

880 has a FAVS button between the page left and page right buttons under the screen.
