Guys,

I need a remote which is:
1. fully programmable through PC software.
2. has a full colour display.
3. preferably 2 hands remote.
4. I can use to contral a d-link DSM-520 media center box.
5. off course, controls all the rest of my kit.

the RC9800i fall out because it is not programmable (correct?). The TSU-9600 doesn't cut it because it does not allow control of the DSM 520 media center box (only Excient Firballs supported). For the rest it would be perfect. Anything out there which has it all?

Thanks!
Best,
Glenn

Look at Universal MX3000
Does the DSM520 have a remote? If so you can contol it from any remote.

Thanks for your reply.
Can I use the MX3000 to select content from my UPnP compatible NAS device servicing the media center (DSM-520)? I.E. can I select music to play, located on the NAS, from the touchscreen MX3000? Same for movies?
Obviously, I want to consolidate to one remote...

Are you looking for the album art to display on the touchscreen?

I'm a bit of a newbie with remotes so forgive me if this sounds a bit dumb ;-)
I'm not sure what you mean. I'm assuming you mean little icons resembling the cd/dvd so you can see which cd/dvd it is? If so, yes that would be nice but any remote which offers me the opportunity to browse the cd/dvd directory and select what song/movie I want in a practical manner is fine. art would be a big bonus though.

To avoid misunderstandings, I want to buy a NAS device on which I store all my music/dvd's and photo's. On this NAS I inted to install twonkyvision so it can bge managed by the dsm-520 which is connected to my denon 3805. I know I can select what I want though the TV but would like to do the same through a remote.

Thanks again.
Best,
Glenn

Glenn,
So you are going to buy a NAS have it controlled by the DSM-540 and the both will interface with twonkyvision.

Have you used the DSM-540 yet? When I used the unit it would not play the albums in numerical order it played albums in alphabetical order. You can use the MX3000 remote as you will have to learn the IR codes from the DSM-540 and watch what you are doing on your TV Screen. If you take a look at the Nevo remote thru the Wi-Fi it will also control the DSM-540 and will even show the photos and album art (the Cover of the CD) on the screen. I am not sure about it displaying the movies.

Correct.

No I haven't. But from what I read it seems the "best" there is for the moment for a reasonable price. It also does a lot of formats. I'd like to be able to stream VOB files so I can see my ripped dvd's full resolution. Although the price is a bonus, if you have a better alternative which is more expensive I will certainly consider it.
Basically, I expect it to be able to stream video and audio and pictures. To more formats the better and, as mentioned above, it preferably needs to be able to stream VOB files.

You can use the MX3000 remote
as you will have to learn the IR codes from the DSM-540
and watch what you are doing on your TV Screen.

OK. Would you say the MX3000 is a better remote compared to the TSU-9600?

and album art (the Cover of the CD) on the screen. I am

Thanks for the info. To bad it's an IPAQ. Why can't they put this software on an MX3000 or a TSU-9600? I can't be the only one wanting such a device? Am I?

Best,
Glenn

I think that you are the only one that wants this software in the remote
