Hope someone can help...

I would like to use the serial control on my Philips RFX9600 to control my Meridian 551 amp.

The 551 has the Meridian comms connection (5 pin DIN) and the datasheet specifies it supports RS232, but I can find no information on the pinouts for a DIN - 9 pin D-sub connection. I am at a loss to whether the datasheet is incorrect and the 551 can only be connected to other Meridian equipment.

So first question is, can the comms connection be used for sending RS232 commands from the Philips controller and if so, what should the connection be between DIN and D-sub?

Many thanks.

You can't use the din comms port it is only for meridian comms. There should be a 9 pin serial port on it and you can use the codes from any meridian database they are all the same. If you need to write the strings they are real easy, usually just 2 or 3 characters
