I'm a newbie here so hopefully I'll ask the right question.
I have been trying to find the RS232 codes to choose the channel on my LG 42LW6500 TV but without success. I have tried LGrs232 and have found that codes; ma are for the Tune Command, mb are for Channel add/delete, mc give channel up/down, but there does not seem to be a command to go to a specific channel. The TV has Freeview - the DTV option here in NZ and there are 14 or so channels to choose, we have three we use the most and I would like to be able to do directly to one of these via a button(s) - so a favourite(s). Don't really want to go down the Sky route.
Can anyone help with this?

just do a search for LG tv rs232 protocol on this site im sure your find it here is one to stsrt you off [Link: remotecentral.com]Thanks gopronto for your help on this one. I had searched thru before posting but had been unable to find any posts relating to selecting a specific channel with the tv tuner. One of the links led me to the awe-europe site spreadsheet and it shows the VSX-920 remote control code A400-409 (A490+AF20) for selecting individual stations and I just wondered if anyone had the rs232 equivalent. Being new to this there are so many different aspects to look at and understand. Any ideas?

In the manual, if you go to the section on the "External Control Device Setup", then scroll down to the "Command Reference List", Section 22. "Key", Command 1 is m, Command 2 is c, then you need the Set ID, which should be 1 out of the box, generally speaking, you don't have to worry about putting a 0 in front of it, ie 01 Then go to the list of IR Codes. Volume Up is 02, Volume Down is 03 and Mute is 09. So Volume Up is mc 1 02\r Volume Down is mc 1 03\r Mute is mc 1 09\r
Therefore, direct channel commands are as follows,
0 mc 1 10\r 1 mc 1 11\r 2 mc 1 12\r 3 mc 1 13\r 4 mc 1 14\r 5 mc 1 15\r 6 mc 1 16\r 7 mc 1 17\r 8 mc 1 18\r 9 mc 1 19\r
