I am looking to install low voltage lighting in my H/T room.
I want to use an IR type remote probably Lutron it is dual pole so the dimmer is MIRLV-600M (I think) but what do I use as the companion switch as I do not need two dimmers.
In addition is there another brand I should consider that will work with an MX-3000 remote other than or better than Lutron
Life can be crule

I replyed to one of your other threads. The standard companion switch for their dimmers works with any of their dimmers.

At this time the new Lutron/URC Dimmers are not available for Electronic low voltage. They can be used for Magnetic low voltage. So what kind of transformer is on your low voltage lights, electronic or magnetic?

Hi Dave - How do we determine that? Is it usually indicated on the case that the transformer is in or does one usually have to check a spec sheet?
Cheers, Jim.

From Lutron's Gloosary:

Magnetic Low-Voltage – Recessed lights are often magnetic low voltage. Magnetic low voltage lights tend to be larger and heavier than electronic low voltage

Electronic low-voltage – Track lights are usually electronic low voltage. Control these lamps with electronic low-voltage (12v) dimmers only.

ELV's tend to be located at each light source and are pretty small,(1"x2"x4" approx.)
MLV's Tend to be in one location for all lights and is pretty big,(4"x4"x4" and bigger)
