Hi, please help I have to make a choice between a Crestron and a Digilinx system. Which system is better for the future I dont want to install / invest in a Crestron and then hear that Digilinx IP system is the way to go for the future. The future is digital? Why would I put an analogue system into a house?

Does anyone have experience with the Digilinx system? Have you had any problems technically or with functionality? Are you limited with what you can do?

My requirements presently are for:
Lighting Control 6 Rooms
Audio 6 rooms
Home Theater
Intercom

Would like to be able to turn on sprinkler system in garden if on holiday?

I would appreciate any advice anyone would have regards Crestron and Digilinx. I have received quotes for both systems - both are around the same price except Digilinx system is cheaper allowing me to go for better quality hardware speakers etc.

Crestron has 2400 employees does the US Navys ships and Norad, they are not going anywhere. A lot of the others are a bit iffy under the present economic situiation.I would go with their Adagio products given your simple needs.

Crestron uses OEM and AMX manufactures everything.
I would use AMX, hands down. They can still service the panel they manufactured in 1985, because the make all parts themselves.

I have AMX in the cinema room, Netstreams everywhere else.

You can configure your Nestreams system in 30-60 minutes.
You can add as many zones as you want, without changing matrix switchers, etc.

Get a Netstreams Multi room audio and if you really want, you can have Crestron or AMX touchpanels in certain areas..

I am a NS Dealer, and have done quite a few installs with the Digi line, as well as a few Panorama (for video). I designed and sold Crestron systems for another company previously, along with Elan. I would put performance of the NS Digi system on par with Crestron on most points. They are slightly limited on overall options compared to Crestron, as they don't manufacture their own lighting control, XM module, thermostats, and a few other basic things.

As was mentioned above, however, is that you can program a complete NS system in a day, or less, depending on its size. You don't need a Doctorate in any programming languages to set up a core system. NS is working on an update, or actually a rewrite, to their programming suite, that will simplify writing your own drivers for advanced integration and control.

Take a look at the recent posts on NS and Digi under the Custom Installers section for more info, or PM me with any questions.

They might not yet have 2k employees, but they still do the job. I haven't read anything about them that compares to what people say about Control4 or some of the other "systems".

Also look at my last install, [Link: remotecentral.com] .

That should give you an idea of one of the homes I am comfortable installing NS in. I start up the final phase of a job in a 15k sq. foot home next week.
