Hello, hope you can help.

Client wants to shut down his commercial speakers (big large boomers) with X10 appliance modules and IR543 receiver. he has 2 front, a center and subwoofer, each connected to an appliance module.

All shut off except for the subwoofer, even though it is the same make and ampage as the others. Whats crazier, unplug the subwoofer from the module and plug a regular speaker in, it shuts off. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Try a lamp controller? He wouldn't want to try to "dim" the subwoofer, but other than that it might work.

I remember that some appliance modules don't seem to work with small loads. I can't remember what the threshold is, though.

I know the X10 Lamp Modules have a local on off feature. You can walk up to a lamp, and change the switch, and the local module will then change the state to on. This allows you to retain local control, a really nice feature for a lamp.

Perhaps something like this is happening with the sub. If the appliance module also has this "feature" perhaps something in the sub is causing the system to see what the appliance module assumes is a "flick of the switch" causing the sub to turn on.

My suggestion, try plugging a standard lamp into an appliance module. Turn the lamp off by sending an off code to the appliance module. Now try the local switch on the lamp, flip it off, and then to on. If the lamp does turn on when you do this, I'd look on the net and figure out what the module is looking for as the on action. Perhaps you can do something to disable this local control function in the applicance module.
