I plugged an ESM1 meter into the second plug on an outlet which has a LampLinc plugged into its other plug. A 300W halogen torchier is plugged into the LampLinc. I was surprised to see 1 to 2 bars show on the meter at all times. The X-10 signal LED is off.

Unplugging the LampLinc makes this "noise" go away. Unfortunately, I haven't tried unplugging the torch from the LampLinc.

Could the LampLinc be causing this? Is it bad? Could the torch be responsible?

The way you would discover this would be to plug the torch into the socket direct and see what the meter says. It's a process of elimination. My guess is that the lamp has a dimmer in it that may conflict with the LampLinc also.

I am thinking that light is Halogen, if so I think this is normal, all of my halogen's seem to cause some noise.

Yes, the lamp itself is the problem. I believe it is its dimmer rather than it being halogen, mainly because I swapped it with another halogen torchier which has had its dimmer removed and the noise disappeared.

Plugging the noisy torch into a 10 amp FilterLinc did nothing to hide the noise.

Now i just need to solve my weak signal problem. Hopefully a bridge/repeater will do the job.
