Looking for help, we have installed a TSU3000 controling X10 devices via a IR7243 IR to X10 converter. The IR7243 works fine manually controlling teh X10 devices and a X10 IR universal remote also does teh job no problems. The Pronto only works intermittently and seems to either lock up teh controller or itself. We noted that darkening the room did help a little but it is still very intermittent.
Fluorescent lights and/or sunlight might confuse the IR detector. I've never noticed any problem with the IR543 or IR543AH but other IR detectors used by X-10 (e.g. Powermid) are really susceptible.
IR detectors can also be affected by being too close to a TV or other noise source. There's a good application note on IR noise sources on the Vishay Telefunken website.
