Interesting that that link gives 403 (forbidden), rather than 404... and Dave hasn't posted in comp.home.automation in nearly five weeks. Anyone know what's become of him?

I knew I should've archived that site. I was planning on building that in Dec. Hopefully someone has an archive or the site becomes availbale again.

I just sent an email to laser.com asking them to serve up Dave's site again. Hopefully they will respond. I was counting on that information to control my ceiling fans via IR. Again, if anyone has an archive of that site, it would be greatly appreciated.

It will be interesting to hear what laser.com says. caykroyd, do you use an Ocelot? There is a good thread on ceiling fan control on the Ocelot forum.

Well, here is the response I received:
"Dave has apparently decided that the website was taking too much of his limited time available but even without spending any time on the website, he was spending many hours a week answering e-mails generated by the website. So he has recently decided to remove the website altogether. I believe he has no plan to reinstate it.
> not able to be served on the web, would it be possible to email me the html > files for reference?
Unfortunately, we are not in a position to respond any information request about Dave's website without his permission."
I guess I can understand Dave's problem. And appreciate the honest response from laser. Oh well, hopefully someone will come out of the woodwork with an archive of it. I don't use ocelot, but I will check the forums over there.

Hi All,
Good news and bad news. The bad news is I believe Dave removed the site as his health deteriorated to the point that he could no longer maintain the site or respond to question that it generated. At least this is what the site said prior to its removal.
The good news is once I saw the message on his site I feared this may be a problem so I used a crawler and downloaded the entire site as it was on 8-29-03. I just checked and I still have all the files intact. I do not mind sharing however I am concerned about just publishing the info to my website because it is not my work. I do not want to make it avaiable and have Dave bombarded with questions since he decided to have it removed from the web once. From the looks of it I do not see any copyright info though. Hopefully everyone can see and understand my dilema.
Having said that I will see if I can contact Dave or his son to get permission to so this if I remove as references to Dave and his email address. I worked with them last year when building my own IR2RF converter.
In the mean time if someone really needs this info let me know and I will see what I can do to help out. Note I will be travelling on 10-13 and 10-14 so I may not be able to respond before then.
Thanks Brad

Hi brad, Thank you for this information. If Dave can give you the right to send a copy of his pages, i will be very glad to receive a copy by the way you want. My email is thierry.brioux@wanadoo.fr , but y can also download them. These informations are only for my personal use between my philips pronto and X10 devices, and y can assure that I don't ask any question to Dave about these fantastic schemas. Thank's for all and good evening !

I would also like to get my hands on this file, since I am planning to get X10 at home.
Let us know the progress.
Thanks. -Hinke

You know, it would be kind of neat to get it in the files section (or somewhere) on this site because of all the interest. It's probably not that big right? There isn't an X10 area in the files section now.

Hey Brad -
Do have any update for us on the website? If you can't serve it up, maybe someone else on this forum can serve it up with credit to Dave, but no contact info about Dave.
