Hi,
I have an LW10U (UK) wall switch that seems to have failed. It was driving four lamps, each 60W and it is rated at 300W.
Trouble started when one of the lamps blew and took the unit's fuse with it. I replaced the fuse and the unit seemed to work almost OK, except that pressing on the lower side of the rocker just caused the lamps to flash off then on and not dim. The top of the rocker worked OK. Then when I came home yesterday evening and went to turn the lights on - nothing!

I removed the unit and put the old dimmer back - all the lamps are fine. I am wondering (a) what may have blown (triac? PIC? ) and (b) why (inrush current from using 4 lamps?)

I have not yet opened the unit up to check the triac, gate signals, etc, since I may want to get it replaced under warranty and I thought I'd see if anyone has had similar problems (since I may need to replace with a more robust unit in that case - LD11 perhaps)

Problem solved - I took it apart and it was the sockets the fuseholder plugs into - the spring contacts are not springy enough and removing the fuseholder deforms them so that they make intermittent contact - so pressing the bottom rocker broke the contact,a s did screwing the uniut firmly to the plaster box.
