can someone tell me how large are the light controlers? I am thinking of buying some x-10 stuff and I'm still not sure how big and bulky they are

The lamp modules vary in size from manufacturer to manufacturer. My magnavox units are 2.875" tall, 2.25" wide, and stand about 1.75" out from the wall when plugged in.

Jeff,
When you say "controllers", do you mean modules or remotes? David gave the dimensions of the lamp module (appliance modules are about the same size).
The PalmPad remote is about 4" x 3" x 3/4".
