Here is what I want to do: I want to be able to control my downstairs lighting via my pronto and integrate light settings during home theater applications. ie, hit pause on the dvd and the bathroom lights will come on, etc. My second issue is that I have Toshiba equipment that does not have discreet on/off settings so I need to integrate some x-10 gear to do this for me..but what and how??? I've read numerous posts here and got more confused..ocelot, homeseer, slink-e, houselink, etc.
Can anyone just simplify this for me?
My switches and lamps consist of the following:
1. under counter fluorescents/2 shared switches/no dim
2. kitchen recessed lights/1 switch/want dimming
3. over sink light/1 switch/want dimming
4. dining room light/1 switch/want dimming
5. breakfast nook light/1 switch/want dimming
6. hallway light to garage/2 shared switches/no dim
7. bathroom light/1 switch/no dimming needed
8. entry light/1 switch/no dimming
9. 2 lamps/want dimming
10. toshiba 40h80 tv/want to power on-off during macros
11. toshiba dst3000/want to power on off during macros

Pretty simple really. For your incandescent lights you can go with the XPD3. For 3 and 4 way applications you will need a XPSS slave switch. For fluorescents you need the XPS3 and the XPSS slave for three and four way switchs. As for the lamp modules you need a PLM01. If you want to control with the Pronto you also need a IR543. All of the above model numbers are from [Link: homeautomationnet.com] Other sites (X10.com) also have the same products. I have used homeautomationnet a bunch of times and have always had excellent service from them. A few other things. The IR543 is the interface that is needed for your Pronto to control X10. It has to be in line of sight with the Pronto. If you want to operate lights locally you will need a transceiver (TM751) and also a remote such as the palm pad (PHR03). For your HT lights you may want to check out the PCS smartswitches at the same site. A good bit more expensive but IMHO worth it at least in a HT room. You can set dim rates and also levels independently for each switch and then operate each switch as a group (scene lighting) with one X10 command. As for your Toshiba stuff I'm not aware of any X10 that will meet you need. You could use an appliance module but that would be the same as just toggling the power switch. Worst really because you would be actually removing the power source. Others may be able to help you on this.

I'm kinda new to this....what do you mean I can set scene lighting with one x-10 command. And how would this integrate with the ir543? or does it?

Scene lighting involves setting a number of lights to different levels and possibly different ramp rates. For example, in you HT room you may have a scene that sets the overhead lights to dim to 10% over a 30 second time period and a lamp to fade to off over a 5 second period when you hit play on your DVD player. Each lighting circuit has a normal base address (A1,A2,A3). Also each circuit can have a scene address which is seperate form the base address. If you had three circuits with base addresses of A1,A2,A3 you could assign A4,A5,A6 for the scene addresses. You would set up each lighting circuit up with the switch to the lighting level you want and the dim rate and then assign it a scene address.(A4,A5). Then when you give the X10 commmand each lighting circuit with that scene address will operate as you set it up. Do a search for PCS and you will find a lot of information that will help you understand it better. For a HT setup it is the way to go. If you plan to use the PCS switches you need to get them before the price goes up July 1st. Bill E. from http://www.homeautomationnet.com just sent me an email saying cost was going up due to his cost going up. You need the IR543 regardless of which kind of switch you use for X10 lighting. It takes the IR command from your Pronto and converts it to the signal that goes out on your house wiring to operate X10 switches. Also take a look at the PCS web site at http://www.pcslighting.com for more info.
