Scene lighting involves setting a number of lights to different levels and possibly different ramp rates. For example, in you HT room you may have a scene that sets the overhead lights to dim to 10% over a 30 second time period and a lamp to fade to off over a 5 second period when you hit play on your DVD player. Each lighting circuit has a normal base address (A1,A2,A3). Also each circuit can have a scene address which is seperate form the base address. If you had three circuits with base addresses of A1,A2,A3 you could assign A4,A5,A6 for the scene addresses. You would set up each lighting circuit up with the switch to the lighting level you want and the dim rate and then assign it a scene address.(A4,A5). Then when you give the X10 commmand each lighting circuit with that scene address will operate as you set it up. Do a search for PCS and you will find a lot of information that will help you understand it better. For a HT setup it is the way to go. If you plan to use the PCS switches you need to get them before the price goes up July 1st. Bill E. from
http://www.homeautomationnet.com just sent me an email saying cost was going up due to his cost going up. You need the IR543 regardless of which kind of switch you use for X10 lighting. It takes the IR command from your Pronto and converts it to the signal that goes out on your house wiring to operate X10 switches. Also take a look at the PCS web site at
