There are a couple of levels of sophistication that you might try.

2. The XPPC controller for $92.99 mounts on the wall and is a much more sophisticated timer/controller.
3. The IBM Home Director for $29.45 lets your right programs which respond to both time of day as well as received X10 commands. This gives you all sorts of additional capabilities but the controller doesn't keep time as well as the other controllers. It's a good introduction to programable controllers, though.
4. The Ocelot controller for $148.50 is a much more sophisticated programmable controller which responds to X10 singles, time of day and can also send and receiver IR signals. Bill doesn't have the Ocelot pictures on the site yet but you can read more about it at
