I am completly new to X-10's, I know nothing about them. But I just got my TSU2000 pronto and I would like to be able to control my lights with it.

I was wondering if it can control florescent lights, you know the ones in the basements with the X-10's. Also could it control a bookshelf light, because I got a little bookshelf light in my DVD holder so I can see them when it's dark.

If I were to buy them what would be the most popular models I should buy (if there are dif models) so they would be easy to find a .ccf file for them. Where do you buy them?

Are there any good websites someone could point me to to learn about X-10's, some URL's. Thanks

For your florescent light you could go with a XPS3 found at [Link: homeautomationnet.com] This switch will turn your lights on and off but florescent lights are not dimmable. As for the bookshelf light is the wattage at least 40W? X10 needs at least this much load to operate reliably. A XPD3 would work fine if your wattage is high enough. As for your Pronto if will operate any X10 switch. You do need to buy a IR543 though. This will take the RF X10 signal and put it on your house wiring to operate your x10 switches. You can get it also at the above site. Go the files section in the pronto forum to get a .CCF file to operate your X10 swithces. Go to http://www.x10ideas.com to get some ideas on how it all works. One more thing. If you need some swithces to actually light your room check out the PCS smart switches at the site above. They allow you you set pre-determmined light levels and also ramp rates upto 13 minutes. Any number of these switches can operated with one X10 command (scence lighting). Hey Larry have I missed anything :)

Just that the XPS3 will "thunk" when operated and that the PCS SS1S/F will not and it'll also support scenes.
