This is just to fill the rest of you in on what Bevan and I have discovered.

It looks like in the quick_x10.ccf file, Ivan Luk modified the Dim/bright commands(the ones on the code specific pages, NOT the generic page) to include the device number. He basically combined the device number with a lengthened dim command into a single hex command.

Now when you press any of those dim/bright buttons ALONE, the programmed device will turn on and then dim/brighten. For those of us with dumb devices(non-expensive ones) this allows the use of bright/dim as a discrete device on(no need to macro device code and ON button together) AND dim/bright since these "dumb" devices will turn full on when they see a bright/dim command. This eliminates the need for on buttons.

What we are looking for now is a way to combine the dim and off buttons without the ON device turning OFF THEN ON THEN dimming.

Seems as if you put a one time code and a repeat code into the pronto, the one time code is STILL executed even if you hold the button down from the beginning.
