I haven't had a chance to trouble shoot the remotes yet (I'm in NYC doing an install for the owners Brother) but it seems that the last couple remotes I've done have had a couple problems with locking up. The way it has been described to me is that the screen just locks up, and the only fix is to unplug the battery.

Has anyone else had this problem recently?

It seems like most of the remotes I've done since the newest software release have been affected... any possible solutions before I get Matt on the phone?

TIA,
Andy

Check to see if they are the first release of the T2+ remotes, they have a chrome bezel around the screen and are prone to lockups from a static shock

If they are call RTI and they will send a new bezel for each one you have

CHeck the number "5" If you push too hard, some units get stuck and lock up the remote.

They are the new models (grey Bezel).

RTI Installer: I thought the latest firmware was for the backlight issues? It says if your not having the backlight issues that you don't need the firmware. Have you heard otherwise? I'll do the firmware upgrade and we'll see if it helps.

The number "5" issue sounds interesting... I hope thats not the issue.

Thanks,
Andy

I had one T2+ lock up like that about 3 months ago. I unplugged the battery for 10 seconds and have never heard anything about it again.

Too bad I just jinxed myself for a service call tomorrow.

The only issue I have seen with the newest T2+ series is occasional sticking buttons, which will cause a lockup. It is a simple mechanical "catching" of the rubber button on the body of the remote, so it doesn't pop back up. Not a big deal, and it hasn't happened more than twice in dozens and dozens of T2+ for me. If you get a call ("my remote stopped working"), this is definately something to ask your client to check for. IF they find a sticking button, they'll also be able to troubleshoot future issues of the same type on their own.

If not this, I'd say firmware.
...couple a thumb tacks and a stick of double sided tape should hold this baby up...

Yeah, I had it happen again, but this time when I got there the button was still stuck. Solved that issue.

I've already informed the guys at the store (who would field the phone call first) that if someone calls with a dead remote... CHECK THE 5 BUTTON!

Only had the issue with 2 of'm out of a gazzilion remotes, so no biggy.
