I just started playing with the t2+/RP6 combo and I am totally in love with it(esp. the RS-232). My only gripe, for $1200, couldn't RTI add a timer to turn on the equipment at certain times? I have a processor(Integra Research RDC-7.1) with 3 zones, and one is going to the bedroom. I would love to be able to get the processor to wake me up with its Nettune CD library instead of the dreaded alarm clock. How can I add Timer On/Off functionality to my processor? I will be getting the T3 for the main room, does it have a clock? Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Chris

a timer would require the remote to be active during the timed event rather than asleep, so the battery would go dead in a very short time.

I thought all the macros, etc were stored in the RP6, not the T2+. Wouldnt that then make it possible if they really wanted to? (no constant power needed on the T2+. just the PR6, which could "wake up" the T2+ when the timer was executed.
No, I wont install your plasma with an orange extension cord hanging down the wall.

Frank this was one of the things I was talking about with RTI and automation, the OS of the RP6 does not mulitask, you could run a maro with timers but while it was running it would not respond to other commands.

You could build one if you really want with an X10 mini timer and the xantech contact closure to IR interface to initiate a macro on the RP6.

This would also make it easy to change the wake time since you could do it on the mini timer and not deal with software.
Technology is cheap, Time is expensive.

Boy that sounds like a service call waiting to happen.

All macros are sent from the RP-6 not the T2+. The RP-6 could easily have a timer as it now has a non-volatile memory anyway.

Also how can you initiate a macro in the RP-6 from a Xantech device?

These were my thoughts as well. I think I have been proved wrong however.

I'd definately be interested in being able to use a timer, especially on my showroom unit. I went through a projector bulb in a matter of months becasue I leave it on at night for street viewing/advertising. I would LIKE to be able to have it programmed to shut off at 10:00 or so, to save bulb life.

In my example the Timer would make a contact closure to the Xantech 590. The 590 accepts a contact closure and issues an IR code. The RP6 accepts the code (which it generated and you taught to the xantech) and initiates it's own macro.

I thought of the X10 timer since it operates like an alarm clock and you can send multiple events, I believe. But any timer that can generate a contact closure will do. Heck, you could modify a cheap alarm clock for that matter, or use a basic light timer.

For your projector issue, you could just get a digital light timer and have it kill power to the projector from 10:00 until you open.

That would shorten bub life even more, as it wouldnt be allowed the cool down period.

How about having a cable box with VCR control send an IR trigger code to the RP-6 at certain time?
