After reading the review on this forum of the T2, I was frankly ready to purchase one ASAP! But now all I see is problems? What's the straight scoop on these remotes? They seem too expensive to have problems..... Larry

The other people who claimed to have problems seem to have vanished. I did have a minor problem with mine but it was taken care of immediately by RTI (I had a new remote the next day). At that time, RTI said mine was the only one that had been returned.

The short of it is (IMO) the T2 ROCKS. Hands down the best remote I've found (I also have a pronto). And, when my RF station gets here it'll be even better.

I have a Pronto, too.

The Pronto is for sale because of the T2. I have had no problems with the T2, including zero problems learning IR commands once the remotes were properly aligned. The software is far more intuitive than Pronto's, although it is also less flexible owing to the small size and lower resolution of the T2's touchpad. And for my setup, at least, having hard buttons for a keypad and cursor control is worth the extra $250 over a Pronto.

I love my T2.

I also have a Pronto and it's in the drawer. I can't bring myself to sell it because it would mean throwing away all the man-weeks I spent programming it to get it as much to my liking as possible. Being a software developer I did enjoy programming the Pronto (for a while). I am SO glad the T2 is easy to set up close to what I currently conceive my perfect remote.

Besides, again being a software developer, I'm a firm believer in functionally redundant hardware, or at least good backups :-).

Cheers,

DJ

Other than the fact that aligning the remote for learning may be tricky, this remote is AWESOME. No quality problems with mine. I tried many different remotes, including the Pronto (RC5000), the SL-9000 and the RC2000mkII, but the T2 is by far the most pleasant to program and use. Just wish it was a tad smaller...
