I thought I could use this macro command to make the Power hard button do what one would expect by placing all the "on" and input selection commands (for various components) in the "a" part and all the "off" commands in the "b" part.

However, when I try to close the macro editor, it says that there should only be one "a" command and one "b" command. But, it does allow me to save it (by hitting cancel on the warning message). Since I don't have my actual remote yet, I can't test it to see if it will work the way I want.

Anyone know if this is a true limitation, or just a warning?

ebr,

I'm not sure that might the the best feature for that. I think the "hold the button down longer" or double-click macro triggers would be a better choice.

For example, I use the main page device for my preamp. The power button short-click is the preamp power toggle. A long press will shut everything off. In the source devices, the short click toggles power, and the long press selects all the proper inputs and modes for the device. It works great.

Thanks for the suggestions. I may need to go with something like that -- which will be fine for me. I was trying to create as simple and intuitive an interface as possible for babysitters, grandparents and the like.

As it is now, even with my Pronto, these people can never seem to operate my system. I always come home and they're sitting there listening to something in spanish or with no sound at all or something :-).

Maybe I can train them to hold the button down longer to turn things off...or, I'll just create separate LCD buttons for on and off in a simple config that I can load when I'm going to be away.

It would be nice if you could "press" another button (or invoke a macro) from a macro. Certainly, this type of functionality is being considered for future software updates...right RTI?

ebr,

I would suggest to make a separate manu (jump to page or extra screen from the main page) with a config for the "technically challenged", using BIG buttons:) That way you don't need to load and unload configs each time.

Arjen's suggestion is excellent for people with multiple "operating skill environments" :-). The great thing is that it's VERY simple and quick to create the frames and buttons. The system would actually allow you to simulate two different "home" pages.

You'd be best off to create your own set first, then duplicate and modify them to get the "reduced functionality" set.

Cheers,

DJ
