Hi ... new poster, frequent lurker. Thanks for all the help in the past, guys.
I could use some assistance. I'm trying to reduce the number of pages in my program by having TV channel selection pages (the ones with icons for CNN, etc.) send the relevant IR codes to an output port on the RP-6 that corresponds to the previously selected source (one of several DVRs).
Here's what I'm trying to do ...
On the home page, I have a button called "TV1" that does the following
1. turns on the TV (with LOCAL/Standalone IR)
2. sends an RF signal to the RP6, to control a video switch, selecting the source TV1 to go to the TV I am watching
3. sets a flag (TV1 selected)
4. transitions to a channel selection page
On the channel selection page
1. each button on that page corresponds to a different TV channel (e.g., CNN 202)
2. each such button would output the IR code for CNN , but choose the port based on the setting of a flag ...
2a. If TV1 is selected, the macro should output to port 1
2b. If TV2 is selected, the macro should output to port 2
The problem is that the flag set by the first button ("TV1") is not visible to the channel button because the "TV1" button is a LOCAL IR output and the channel button (CNN) uses RF to the RP-6 to send the IR command to a satellite receiver near the RP-6. In short, I don't seem to be able to share flags between a button with local IR and a button with RF output.
I might be able to fake it with a hidden button that does nothing more than issue the local commands and then goes to the channel selection page that uses RF commands. But then I get stuck again ....
The Page Link option comes close, but what I want is to be able to transition to and INVOKE another specific button on a given page, not just go to a page and let the user push the button.
Does anyone have a tip on how to re-use a channel selection page so that it will output IR codes on a port corresponding to a user-selected video source, so as to avoid having duplicate very similar and memory-consuming pages?
Thanks!
Forgot to mention that I have TC-2s as the remotes ...
