Just wondering if anyone has done mulitple XP8's linked in one system yet. I'm putting two XP8's in a system and am trying to see if anyone has ran into any problems linking them.
Who says you can't put 61" plasmas up on cantilever mounts using toggle bolts? <---Thanks Ernie ;)

I've done it.

Spent 2 hours troubleshooting and on the phone with RTI today to get it to work.

If you have keypads in the system, To get it to work, you have to connect them by running a wire from the CB4 IR/gnd connection to the IR/gnd connection on the remote XP8.

When we connected our antennas to each XP8, we got massive interferance, so now we have to sort that out. I guess it's possible the cat5 between the CB4 and XP8 is picking up noise and passing it through the system.

RTI gave me a word of caution, 2 XP8's in the same system and 2 way RS232 will not be a good idea. Don't ask me why, they just said it might not work.

I was also told that 2 way is at least a year away.

I am understanding that RTI is suggesting to not use 2 XP-8's in a system??

Chris you are still trying to get an XP8? Or to get one to work? I'm not worried about 2way right now but I have a system that has 2 XP8's, T4, 9 RK3's, 3 CB4's, 2 B&K CT600's, 2 B&K HD6's, 8 cable boxes, two DVD players, and 9 TV's. All I want is for stuff to work the way they say it should!!!

With 2 way, yes, that is what I was told.

Uhm, this is not gonna get into our Crestron sales then. I hope they have a plan on straightening this out. I have to say I am still not confident in working with an XP-8.

So far the three xp-8's weve installed have had no issues, aside from the known latency and bug issues that are known.

The "you shouldn't use 2 xp-8's in one system with RS-232" does have me worried moving forward.

Yes it does, we use multiple processors with our big Crestron systems... And they work just fine.

We just gotta keep remembering that Crestron had these "growing problems" as well!! I've heard PLENTY of horror stories from Crestron installers that have been doing Crestron for many years.

Just a quick question.

What do you need the extra XP8 for? More IR assignable ports, current or video sense?

You might try a RP6 for the extra ports and see if it works better.

I need to have more assignable outputs. Plus I want to be able to do offsite updating of the processors and keypads.

The latency was a deal killer and had to yank the XP-8 for 2 RP6s.

I know, we are currently doing Crestron though and have a pretty stable platform. Just scared to try a $1500 processor this early in the game.

That being said, we are completely swapping out our first Adagio set-up due to too many glitches. So I know the pain all to well...

Hey roddymcg...

Should we pick up Crestron or AMX as our next product???

:)
