We, of course, discuss the negative stuff because it requires a solution. The good stuff sometimes gets lost because if it works, we're good and have no need to vent or consult.

I began my first system created in ID exclusively (I have been finishing many jobs started in TTD) and I would like to recognize the new implementations and improvements (many that we had asked for!!!)

1) IR routing assignments prior to draging in new IR codes from the library (YES!).
2) Highlighting IR searched and replaced codes.
3) IR routing control of pre-existing macros on right click menu (YES!).
4) Sort and view options for processor macros (YES!).
5) 232 library, of course.
6) Assign numbers automatically in search and replace (did this work before?).
7) Ctrl-click to select a single port assignment in properties (YES!)

These are are just the features that I used in the first hour to increase my productivity!!!

If you have more please post them. This may help us all figure out how to use ID "smarter".

You calling me stupid for not knowing these? Sorry, couldn't help it; saw you skewered in another thread. I got the same from somebody in the ci lounge last weekend, though my response was perhaps not as diplomatic as yours.

The only add I can think of, and I don't know if this was in the previous version but I learned it in the last RTI training, is command duplication within a macro. Hold left mouse button down on command, press control, drag command to new location. Speeds up macro building when you find you need multiple commands or page links (think T2+ with spinning hourglass or something) without having to keep opening the library to select a command you have in the macro already.

Groovit, could you elaborate on number 7? I found this in the "edit step" of a macro, but not under properties; perhaps that's what you meant? Also going to get Yam stuff to you someday soon. Spring break next week, I might finally have time.

G.F., could you elaborate on 9 and 10? I might know these, but the brain is tired lately.

Thanks.

I think Groovit is referring to the following:

If you right click a button that is assigned an IR code (for example, the "1" button), and select properties, you can click the tab for IR routing (only if you are using an RP6 or XP8). If you want that code routed to only the satellite box, you no longer have to uncheck every single box other than "Port 1". Rather, you hold control and click the "Port 1" box and all other boxes uncheck. This also works in the macro editor.

A small feature, but very helpful!

Funny! I think he had a rough day or something. I have had that happen several times. I always try and give my posts the correct tone, but occasionaly when I am in a hurry I will just present the dry facts. Some people take it personally!

I am not quite clear on this one... I will try it this afternoon.

Yam stuff? A new recipe? Got your remote controlling your oven? Testing in advance of Thanksgiving?

Ah; I was looking under other properties tabs, for whatever reason I didn't even think to look at a single command on a button. After Groovits original post I did find this applies within macros as well, which is very helpful too. I always hated unchecking all the boxes.

Perhaps this thread could also include other shortcuts people know of in the software. I do like the ID6 over TT.

When you go back into library and use search for brand it remembers when you go back in instead of having to retype. Nice if you are trying to locate the right codesets and have several to try.

I hat yams, or I think I would if I ever tried one.

When I sent the stuff for the 232 library, I was discussing my puzzlement about the Yamaha 232 documentation.

I have been using this feature for about 3 years now, glad you found it! Really saves time.

Just wanted to say that I also like the improvements RTI has made. I love:
1) IR routing assignments prior to draging in new IR codes from the library (YES!).

as well as a bunch of the other features mentioned. But that one in particular has really been a nice addition

9) When you open the properties of a button (or any object) ID remembers what tab you were on last. So for example if you are checking how IR is routed for several buttons, after checking the "IR Routing" tab in the properties page of the first button, checking the properties of the subsequent buttons will take you directly to the "IR Routing" tab, instead of the "General" tab as in TTD. Minor, but convenient none the less.

10) When selecting "select new remote" in the IR library, ID will remember your last search criteria and bring you to exactly the same place in the IR database. This saves quite a bit of time if you are searching for a discrete from some piece of junk OFE that should probably be replaced anyway... but I digress.

I love these, I click half as much as I did in TTD

When you're in the library and you've entered enough letters for a brand name to show up, does TAB take you to the next window? I asked for this about two years ago.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
