i am almost positive u need a null modem adapter, it has been a while. also they changed the baud rate with one of the firmware updates to 19,2kbps. i dont even remember what the original baud rate was. but i know it was changed to 19,2

It requires a null modem. The ones that I worked with were 9600. Here are some examplesof strings.

Play: 0x45,0xB5,0x15,0xEA
Pause: 0x45,0xB5,0x00,0xFF
I'm always right. The only time I was wrong was the time that I thought, that I was wrong.

I have tried both baud rates and with/without null modem adapter

when I use your strings: the XP-8 does not show a macro is being sent: when I use the strings in the RS232 library, it shows a string is being sent: but nothing works!
