We're going to be specing several plasmas for a matrix distribution system using RTI contol. Would prefer to control the plasma on/off & volume from a rear IR jack. We've been hit or miss in the past being able to control them with hardwired IR, and don't want to have to open the planel to place a flasher. Is there a recommended brand/model that is known to work well hardwired IR with RTI? Much Thanks.

If it must hit everytime, is 232 an option, I assume you already ran CAT? to the display locations?

I also don't know of any TV's off hand with IR in jacks.

Good luck...

Yea. 232 is an option...just trying to avoid the cost of the cm-232's. Haven't ran anything yet to the location...but trying to plan ahead because I've been suprised too many times assuming a rear rs-232 or IR jack is going to work :)

I'm with you on the backup plan... There always seems to be something right! I usually run a couple of CAT?'s just in case something pops up!

LG has a jack that can work with an IR converter. I'm not typically a big fan of LCD for picture quality but I would also consider Planar. They have rear IR and one of the few LCDs that competes with most Plasmas.

LG has IR inputs but... I'm 0/3 for actually getting them to work via that IR input. All three times its been a situation where after trying for 20min to get it to work, I say farg it and put a flasher on it. Never have gotten in touch with someone from LG to work it out, always meant to... Funny thing is that I try and try to figure out why it wont work with the IR input, stressing, and every time it works 100% and spot on as soon as I stick a flasher on it.

Go figure.

You can't just plug an IR into it. You have to use this:

Sorry, I should have found the link earlier but I had to look up the "converter" box.

Do we know what this piece from Audioplex is doing to the signal?

Has anyone tried stripping the Freq.? Like we do with the Sony "S-Link".

I'm not sure what the Audioplex does to the signal but I do know the LG IR in is a stereo plug not mono, FYI.
