I have had a T2-C with a Rp6 in my loft for 7 months. I got an additional T2C and rp6 for my family room at Christmas.
Sence then, my loft remote died(lcd)and I sent it back. In the meantime, my familyroom also died.
The loft remote took 5 weeks to get back because RTI forgot about it(there words,not mine). I put a loaner in the family room so that I can control something. The loft remote came back and it worked for almost 4 hours and then,died.
I am scared to use my own remotes anymore for fear that they will die and I will have to use regular remotes until RTI gets there head out of there asses.
This bulletproof product is becoming a joke. That on top of thepathetic lies about when the "Miricle Processor xp8 would come out". i have lost all faith in this company. Unfortunatly I am stuck with the 2 setups in my house and have to hope they stay working for awile.
By the way just so that you dont think I am blowing smoke out of my bum, my company is the largest seller of RTI in Las Vegas. I have personaly programed over 60 of the t2-c in the last year plus many of the other product line. The t2c is just the best seller.

If it makes you feel better I have seen a SIGNIFICANT decline in problematic products which have been coupled with an honest degrade of customer service. That coupled with the companies lack of technology is leading me to seek alternatice systems for clients who want great but not the greatest. I have a client demographic that are willing to spend 5-10K on control systems. That might not get themto Crestron/AMX land, but it certainly should enable them to have 2-way communication to some level. I mean for Christmas sake, how can I tell a client to not get a netstream and get RTI based on future promses? RTI might very well be a top player at the end of the long road, but I think I will get out and walk - at least to some level. I do like the products they have, like the programming software, see potential in the new products, but it will not take me where I need to be.

Just a thought...
Have you noticed any difference after firmware updates to the remotes or is it a battery problem?
I know that many of my T3 lockup issues have been solved with recent firmware updates.

One thing I've noticed is that you kinda have to stay on them about remotes that you've sent back. If you do that then you have no problem with them being gone long. I haven't had many issues with remotes coming back still dead.

I've had great experiences with RTI. Nearly every system gets a T3/RP-6/RM-433 and the only one that has died in the field is one that was dropped onto a hardwood floor and cracked the LCD screen.

Last year I sold about what you sold here in the Las Vegas area and I have to say I have had almost no problems. But when it comes to sending stuff in, like one these guys said you HAVE to stay on top of them because if not they take weeks. All in all I think in the time I have been selling RTI I feel it is a really good product and company.

I think their move had something to do with a lapse in returns, we had several T3's and some various product disappear for a few weeks. I am not having the best of luck with T3's lately. We had several T3's go down, to the point where everyone I had coming in was replacing a broken one that had to be sent in.
Very few problems with other products though.

Why don't they allow the distributor to replace defective product under warranty? Almost every other vendor has a system like this in place. What's with sending back to them and waiting for a return? Are they repairing the unit you send them or replacing it with new product?

The t2c is just the best seller. not trying to be an ass, but out of the 60 you stated you sold last year you only talked about 2 that you had issues with. I would say that isn't bad. It just sucks when it hits you directly.

You are right. I only ranted about 2 of them and those were the ones that bothered me the most. We have hadaround 8 in the last 3 months go bad also. i just was focusing on mine because that is what bothered me. It almost seems like Rti got overwelmed with the amount of T2-Cs that got purchased that the quality control took a back seat.we have had 0 problems with anything else. Well a few cm-232 cables went bad but other than that, just T2-Cs.

Especially when you have to explain to the wife that she has to go to the rack and operate from there!!!! Those looks will burn a hole in you!!!

If I top out at the 10K range, there is no way Crestron is going to be worth our investment in if we can't sell systems that are over 10K. It just isn't worth our time to program... However, if I were getting to bid on 200K jobs and the like, it would make sense. Second, RTI can easily be made to emulate a a/v system with their keypads. I was using Netstreams as an example of what would satisfy a customer - basically play music on several zones and be able to access their music library fairly easily. As far as 2-way feedback, a client could get feedback from any system using wifi- (see Nevo, Pronto and Control4 as an example). There are also several new remotes coming to market that have 2 way feedback - see Denon's 4808. I am not saying that this could be made to do what a Crestron can, I am just trying to point out that 2-way communication is not rocket science anymore and there are companies out there that are not only making good advancements, but recognize the need for it.

Dave They do. They'll check a serial number list to approximate the age and either over the counter exchange it or tell you to send it in. I've sent in maybe a handful and all have come back working and timely. No T2c defectives yet. Mostly T3. My own T4.

Not after 6 months they don't. More often now, vendors are refering you straight to the manufactureer.
