Has anyone actually hooked one up and played with it yet?

Got mine this morning: did others get a manual? (I know it is on the site)

Have the day off to install it to replace an RP-6

p.s. magnets stayed in place when front panel was removed!

mine is up & working: [Vs 1.0 dated 1 Feb 08]

after saving my files on a flash drive I used the convert device command to convert the system RP-6 to the XP-8: seemed to work fine: downloaded file to XP-8 over IP

I noticed the RP-6 still responded: so I connected a separate RM433 to the XP-8: both processors are now working and receiving/sending commands: so I can migrate one port at a time and test them without a big disruption

One thing I miss is there is no feedback from the XP-8 (RP-6 has a red LED) that tells when it receives a signal)

you can go into diagnostic mode and see if it is sending a signal: for example

menu/diagnostics/I/O/High IR Out: send a command, for example a macro, and an M will flash on the XP-8 display

Not so lucky with diagnostics for I/O ports 1-8: every time I try that the XP-8 locks up and needs to be reset

also noticed each I/O port IR port adjustment pot is set mid way up

I think that was operator error (me):

I think I was in the menu to test an IR code with a connected remote: perhaps it was waiting for the connection?

in relay diagnostics:

this is nice: you can open/close each relay individually or all at once, and see the relay change state (and hear the relay change state) from front panel controls

only issue is both open and close show up as the letter C:

e.g. 1c ; 3C ; 8c

small c for open/cap C for closed: this could be misleading and should be fixed!

I suggest:

O for open
C for closed

[in relay status screen it indicates closed & open correctly]

if you reset the XP-8 [as after a lock up]:

the network settings seem to be lost:

it reverts to DHCP: so that will be a problem if you set the XP-8 to static IP

Mark,

Did you set the IP in ID or did you do it on the front? It says that settings will revert to the last thing set in the ID settings.

I set it via USB:and downloaded to test it: and it showed the static IP

then I had to reset the XP-8 due to a lockup and it lost the setting
