I just bought a new WS-55807 and wanted to hear any opinions from other Mitsubishi owners.

I have a 65903 and happy with the picture but will know more when the DSS receiver HD finally comes out this month.
I don't know why but it takes forever to change channels

I sometimes experience a channel-changing problem with my RCA MM36100, which seems to be as it is trying to "lock on" to the signal using all the fancy filtering techniques built in to the system to provide the best reception and image. The screen will lose its colour control and display a warped diagonal mess. Then =pop= the picture snaps in. ... Mike

Since I have a DSS sony I do not use the analog tuner built into the mitsu and It is fast enough. It is the built in analog, Mitsu that is so slow.

First generation models usually tend to be slower.. the newer models are quicker at changing channels. I would highly recommend getting your television sets calibrated by a certified ISF technician. The HD sat boxes should be arriving in less than a month (hoping!), the first generation owners will need the interim box to adapt to the sat box. It'll be a wild ride within the next month!

I've had my 65903 for over a year now. I am happy with the set. It is a bit slow to change channels, but I've noticed that's only on the main screen. Changing channels on the PIP is much faster.
The picture quality is great, especially with anamorphic DVDs.
Don't watch too much in 4:3 mode. The shadow boxes on the sides will burn in. I know, mine did even with the picture properly calibrated with Video Escentials. The burn in seems to be mostly on the blue gun. Which is out of focus on most of the Mitsubishi set from the factory.
I would agree, have your set calibrated by a certified ISF technician.
Can't wait for the HD boxes!!!

For the last 5 months I am the proud owner of a Mits
WT-55805 16:9 projection set and I couldn't be happier. To change channels faster, after you enter in the channel number(s) hit the enter button. The TV looks great with anamorphic DVD's and so-so with cable.
Does anyone else with a widescreen Mits have this problem? When you watch a 4:3 image on the set (either broadcast or DVD, etc.) do the gray bars on the sides of the image change size. One time there is a larger area of gray on the left, the next time it's on the right and so on. Very seldom is the gray proportional on both sides of the image.

I bought one of the first watchable front projector Mits TV's (52") in 1985 when they first came out. It's still working, with a good picture, but my son spilled coke in the tuner so I use it as a monitor, and can't get parts anymore. My experience with Mits wide screens has been so good I popped for the Mitsubishi 80 inch 4:3 HDTV (HDTV 1080). A bit pricy at $8500 (>$10,000 list), but you can't take it to the grave and the government gets it in the end if you don't spend it. It's impressive to say the least. The picture is very detailed even on analog signals. And the digital small area convergence solves the only real problem with the old Mits. The small area convergence on the old set used analog pots that interacted making fine convergence difficult. The new 80 inch uses digital adjustments via the remote control. Also, the new 80 inch seems to be more stable in convergence also. The old Mits needed fine adjustment every month or so as it drifted. I've had the new one for over a year now with no need to fiddle with it. I no longer must put up with red/green/blue fringes on the edges and corners of the screen.

Hit the enter key to change channels fast. Better yet get a Pronto and use macros. I no longer punch numbers keys, I press the channel icon and it switches immediately.

I watch 16:9 in letter box and the bars at the top and bottom are "blacker than black". So I don't have a problem with burn in. I'm surprised they would put a signal in these bars (side or top/bottom). I've heard there is a technician level setup that can change this color in the empty bars. Does anyone know about this?

Various DVD's do not have exactly 16:9 so the top and bottom bars do vary in size. This would also cause the side bars to vary in size on a 16:9 set playing 4:3 or other material.

I have had a WS55805 for bbout 5 months, and love it! I use the RCA DTC100 for HD reception, as well as DSS, and other than having to adjust the Raster centering on the RCA box, it is a wonderful combination.

The 55805 is a bit more tweakable in the service menus than the 55807, (mits locked up alot of the service menus on th 2001 models).

You might look at the following site http://www.hometheaterspot.com Paul carleton is regarded as one of the most knowledgeable Mits people around.

R. Carlino,
The grey bars that you see are supposed to differ every now and then when you watch in 4:3 mode. this helps prevent eventual burn-in of the lenses.. the picture shifts left and right to help with the burn in problem. Your 4:3 viewing should be limited to less than 15% of the time..

Just bought the 55805 and my friend(sales guy) told me
to get it certified. Also told me the price ($400, yikes!) Is this the right price? I know it's the
RIGHT thing to do, but I wanna know if I'm bein taken
for a ride.:o)

Lee, last year I heard the price was $350.00. If somebody wants $400.00 maybe that's right if you figure inflation. If there is more than one ISF technician around your area I would check their prices.

WS 55805. I just got one and love it. DVD is awesome. Watching a Video tape is grainy. Cable is good for the most part, but some channels are grainy, WB & FOX, SCI FI, HBO - movie channels tend to have better quality.

I bought a Mits 46 inch 16:9 widescreen 2 months ago. It is just the right size for my townhouse. The Sony DVD looks great, but regular cable signals really suck. No matter what I do to calibrate it, the signal really overrides any calibration. The AVIA disk is great but you really need a Satellite feed to use these TV's. So bad on FOX channel that it makes you dizzy watching football with the players "ghosted" and numbers virtually unreadable. Is this because there is a "second signal" in some way?

PURCHASED MY 65903 IN OCTOBER OF '99 I AM VERY PLEASED WITH IT. AT FIRST IT SEEMED HUGE BUT HAVE SINCE GOTTEN USED TO THE SIZE OF IT. SOMETIMES I WISH I HAD GONE FOR THE 73 INCH BUT IT SEEMED TOO LARGE AT THE TIME.
