looking for good AVR for under 500. Can these receivers or any do 1080P switching effectively. Is it worth running all HDMI's connections to AVR and out to TV or just run them directly TV.

Never had a Denon but always had my eye on one.

On another note what about virtual surround I have the older Polk about 3 years old and betters ones out there

Harry,

There are AVR's out there under $500 that are worth looking at. Given my title, I would recommend a Denon. You would probably want to look at either an AVR-1910 or an AVR-790. The main difference between the two units is going to be where you will locate the product for sale. You will find a few small feature differences between them, but nothing that I believe would be of any major concern.

check out Onkyo TXR607. That's under your budget for going market price.
To many features to list, but worth the look.  Try visiting or calling your local custom home theater audio/video showroom/store.  That's where you will get the best advice on product selection.  These days they also compete well against online pricing, but have 30 day no lemon guarantees and are authorized dealers.

Thanks for Input. Currently I have a Sony STR-DE597. In peoples opinion. Would I benifit from sound feature ect... and or would it be worth upgrading to a receiver for under $500. Can so (insert receiver here) do 1080P switching without loosing any video quaulity? I would have cable box HDMI, TV HDMI, Apple TV HDMI and Possible Blue-RAY HDMI.

You will not notice any difference in picture quality from switching the HDMI video through the Onkyo receiver. You also have the new sound processing decoders in the Onkyo for Blu Ray.  There many more features in comparison to your older Sony that it would be a nice upgrade. Definitely worth the money.

I have to recommend the Denon 1910/790.It's one heck of a receiver.
