I used to be a real plasma nay-sayer, but a couple of years ago after YEARS of waiting for the perfect LCD set to come out (and it never happening) I decided to throw caution to the wind and went from an old 60" Sony LCD RPTV to a 60" Pioneer Elite Kuro and I'm utterly blown away.

I also have a couple of 42" LCD sets in the house and they don't touch the Pioneer for life-like image quality.

I purchased a Samsung PN58B860 Plasma earlier this year. Picture below is taken from my TSU9600 configuration file.

The 60" Pioneer Elite Kuro was actually my first choice. Could not swing it financially at the time unfortunately. That being said, I've been very satisfied with the Samsung. It sports a fantastic picture once you take it out of torch mode and offers various picture modes which can be individually customized per input. The swivel stand is a nice bonus as well. Took some digging, but I was also able to find all the discrete IR codes I needed per programming my TSU9600.

The stand the display is sitting on is a Salamander Synergy Triple which has worked out beautifully. Purchased the stand on EBay from a seller in a neighboring state at nearly half the retail price. Took 6 hours or so round trip to pick this bad boy up, but it was worth every mile let me tell you. This thing is one solid stand. Was easy to assemble and looks great in the room. The infinitely adjustable shelves are an awesome feature of this stand as are the optional caster wheels. Purchased the caster wheels directly from Salamander which have to be installed when assembling the stand. For anyone considering purchasing one of these stands the caster wheels are a must. Makes moving the stand out from the wall to access the rear a simple task for one person. Also, in person it's not as easy to see the equipment behind the doors which do allow for IR signals to penetrate though I have IR emitter cables running to all my equipment anyway. The rest of my gear is in a small closet in another area of the house.

I have a Salamander Synergy as well. Triple wide, 3-high (made up of the 2-high plus an extension) in Cherry. Left/right sides, extended rear panel for the middle. No doors. I had purchased the casters, however being triple high it was just too much, so I went back to the stock flat feet (technically it's still a smidge higher than I originally wanted, but I really need the space).

My set is a "hummer" though the issue does not seem as bad as some that have described it, at least in my case. Is only really bothersome when listening at low volume levels though at this point I've learned to ignore it. Had the option to exchange the set for another one within the first 30 days after delivery, but did not take the opportunity to do so. That being said, the display is under warranty, so I still have the option of having it serviced if I decide to take that step which may or may not help. The issue seems to be hit or miss per the feedback over at AVSForums. Not everyone with this set is experiencing this issue.
