Folks,

I need to find out which product is the best one for streaming music (also video if possible) from the PC to my Yamaha RX-V1 in the basement. I have the Linksys SRX router and I get strong signal even in the basement. I know linksys has a media router but I believe the TV has to be on all the time to see the name of the song or the playlist.

Any recommendations.

Thank you for your time.

If you don't want to spend alot, go to this page: [Link: x10.com]

I've used their DVD anwhere, and it works as promised. It is a RF device, so you may have conflicts if using any other devices in the same frequency range.

The roku soundbridge only does audio. I recently purchased the d-link dsm-320 and I have to say I'm pleased so far. It does music, photos, video and has online media also. If you have media center on your PC, X-box has a cool little deal for around 80 bucks. Check it out at bestbuy. Good luck

bobthedude,

Whichever streaming player you decide on, do a search for forums such as this one and go through them. You'll get a general indication for general happiness about it. I learned this the hard way about the Netgear MP101...What a piece of CRAP!

Checkout the Hermstedt Hifidelio, and the Cambridge audio 640H.
I am currently also in the market, and have just had a look at both these, and came away verrrrry impressed.

The Cambridge Piece does not play WMA files.
