Hi, I am thinking of changing my trusted old Marantz RC 9200 for a newer and more powerful remote, and it will probably be the UTM MX-3000 or Marantz RC-9500, but I haven't decided which one. Any suggestions or comments?

It is important for me to be able to control several CD/DVD megachangers and to control my system using RF. I know Bracken is working on a version of DMX-3000 thatr will work with different brands of changers, and that Lyndel's newest version of SNL should work (somehow) with the new RC, but haven't actually heard anyone confirm either story....

Christopher

PS Difference in price is not relevant, unless we are talking about several hundred dollars, nor is warranty, or customer support, as I live in Europe and expect neither.....

I'm sure many here will have a fit about this comment but...

If you really don't care about warranty, buy the MX-3000 from a seller with a good rep on eBay. You can save hundreds of dollars.

The threads indicate that Bracken is working with several people on this forum that I'm sure are giving his software a real world thrashing! That Bracken is taking this step before releasing the software to the world is good news. He's doing the right things to ensure his release goes smoothly, and people are happy with the software.

Even if the lists never come to fruition, you can set the MX-3000 up for the task, it will just take more effort on your part.

For your purpose, I don't see any better choices unless you are willing to wait until software is released, and you can hear from the many on this forum who will try it out..

cg, you might consider paying a little more and supporting some of the guys that contribute to and make this site possible. I feel more inclined to be helpful to those that don't encourage the market destroyers of ebay. No offence bcf, I just don't think ebay does anyone any good in the long run.

The 3000 is certainly a fun and reliable product. Extremely powerful and practically a light one hander. Great company that is passionate about their product and making their users happy.
Manuals?! We don't need no stinking manuals! a.. er..

The RTI T2+ blows away any remote I've seen anywhere, at any price. The pronto(and Pronto based) remotes have terrible software in comparison, and people(including myself) feel more at ease with hard buttons than with full touchpanel remotes. Just my HO.

I fail to see how a hard button based remote can give you any kind of useful GUI for controlling megachangers?

Me no think the RTI is no gooder than URC 850. / 700

It mucho price and it have-um silly hardem buttons.

Me do like the LCD screen but me think it just pretty - not as functionall-em as the URC remote-ums

I do agree that the all- touchscreen type-um remotes suck-um for everyday use.
