Hi, if my disaster ([Link: remotecentral.com]) proves non-reversible I will need new DVD changers.

Does anyone know if/where the Kenwood Entré and 5900 changers are available? Does anyone have any experience with them?

I know Sony also makes changers, I have one, but am not particularly impressed with it, and would like to try another brand.

If I cannot find Kenwood, can someone telle me if I might still be able to buy two Pioneer 727s somewhere?

I have a DVD-5900m in stock, never been installed, been on the shelf for about a year or so.

I can call to see about an entre as well, only installed a couple.

Glackowitz,

In case I must leave my Pioneers to rest in peace I will need two 5900s (preferably region free) and hopefully an Entré. Let me know what you can do!

Meanwhile, how did the Entré and 5900 combination work, both in terms of quality and functionality?

I think if you are looking for something that is more recent, I would go with the Sony. those here who have it seem satisfied. I myself have the f-727 and like you mentioned am not happy with th mechanics.

Riche_guy,

I have the Sony 860 changer too, and much prefer the 727s, even with the occasional mechanical faiulures. The Sony breaks down probably five times as often, and has a useless user interface and many annoying features, the auto switch off and the auto play. Unless these problems have been removed in later models I will not be buying any more Sonys....

Stay with the 727's.....Kenwood is going away (have had so many problems with their products), so any support will be very questionable...And my experience witht he Sony's has been far from satifactory....

The entre/5900 was a decent setup. I didnt care for the Passthru feature and did have an entre go down on us..as in needed to be replaced.

I havent been around them much lately as we dropped kenwood from our line up

I've been told by a fairly reliable source that Kenwood is going to drop the consumer market. And I read an article in one of the trades recenetly that alluded to that same possibility.

After the miserable failure of the Sovereign line, I guess they've decided that the margins aren't worth the effort.

I would be interested in the 5900 if you still have it... and as a matter of thought, do you know how well they have held up over the life span of the machines you have handled?

The few we have done are still running strong, one I now for sure is used daily in a clients home and has been installed for about 2 years now. The couple others are in theater applications and get used 1-2 times a week for a movie or two.

Email me for more info on buying it
