Hi - newbie here - sorry in advance if this is in the wrong section to post this thread:

I have a Samsung HL-P4663W and am looking for a remote that can take advantage of the set's (supposed) discrete remote code feature. Two main questions:

(1) Are the Samsung HL-P4663W discrete codes available for use in the popular programmable remotes?

(2) Any programmable remote recommendations? Some more background/questions:

* The main reason for wanting to use the discrete codes - I'd like to directly select a particluar A/V input on the set (e.g. component for my DVD player) without having to use a macro to cycle through the inputs and hope to land on the right one.

* I'd like a remote with many "hard" buttons - I'm a Tivo addict and like the Tivo's remote, and would like to stick with convenient buttons that I can use w/out looking at a remote screen

* I've read about the Harmony H659, and it looks like it might work for me. However, I am a little nervous about the internet-required programming method. In programming Prontos in the past, I knew how to get a particular code into the remote; I'm not sure if the Harmony H659 will allow me the same flexibility? Also, does Logitech/Harmony offer the discrete codes for the the Samsung HL-P4663W?

Thanks!

The harmony remotes are setup by you going online and filling in what components you have and how they are hooked up and it will generate the programming for you to download into the remote. They do use discrete codes as best they can but some components just don't have them(your tv does) and require scrolling. The discrete codes for the samsung tvs(hlm/hln/hlp) are in the files section of this site. If you are wanting a remote with a lot of hard buttons, I would suggest the URC MX series of remotes.
