Hi, does anyone have any experience with these:

I am thinking of buying one for a Pioneer PDP-505 HDE, but because of the price ans shipping cost to Norway I want to know if people are happy with them before committing!

On all vision art stuff the canvas is only available in 16:9 size. You cannot use a plasma that has speakers on it. If it does have speakers they must be removed. I would recommend directional in-ceilings above the plasma if that is an option. It looks like crap if you put speakers next to the vision art.

i do believe they can make with different aspect ratios other than 16x9. they do however charge more.

We have installed a few of the visionarts and haven't had any problems with them. You may also want to check out the artscreen from vutec. I've never installed one but I was told they are less exspensive.

The one negative comment one of our customers had about the visionart was that as he fell asleep and his wife turned off the system in their bedroom, the noise of the motor woke him up. We just reprogrammed the remote with an option to turn the system off with or without lowering the screen and he was happy.

They must have changed this. I was talking to the vision art sales rep about a system in september of 04. He said they only come in 16:9 aspect ratio. He said they can make them any size, but they must mainatin the aspect of 16:9.

I am buying a Pioneer PDP-505 which comes without speakers. I will be using Vincent Gallo speakers ([Link: roundsound.com]) placed under the screen, but originally planned to use ArtCoustic (http://www.artcoustic.com) which would have looked great, but not enough wall space....

I just used some of those Gallo's (the ball ones) very good sound for a little speaker I was impressed, of course you have to have a sub, but they held up midrange pretty good.

Yes, I'll be using one of the flat on-wall subs from Artcoustic, which looks like a paintint (just like the Vision Art). Expensive, but great sounding. So the visual foot-print of my 50" plasma and 5.1 surround will be very small, but hopefully it will work as close to a full home theatre!

Visionart considers standard format from 1.6 to 1.85 to 1. Any formats out of that ratio are charged a reformating fee but it can be done.
