I have a Sony 42" Grand WEGA LCD HDTV...It's just wonderful. Among the obvious assignment of allowing me to watch gorgeous HD television, I have a PC connected directly to it. The way I have that configured is I have a converter that converts a VGA output to component video which jacks in directly into the TV.
The purpose here is so I can use the TV as a display monitor for that computer. This enables me to surf the next, play MP3s off the computer, etc.
Here is my problem: the resolution sucks. I have to change the PC setting to 800 x 600p resolution to make it look even remotely legible on the screen...it does the job but just doesnt look that good.
My question is whether there is a way to improve the display resolution? Meaning, would buying a new video card help out? Maybe a video card that has component video outs (not sure there is even such a thing) OR is my limiting factor the television? I 've seen LCD TVs showcased that act as PC Monitor that look fabulous - so is the issue that the TV i have is not "made" for what I am trying to do or is there something on the PC side that might allow me to make the TV resolution actually look more "monitor-like"?
Enquiring minds want to know!
