It would take you a week to read all the posts.

I love the way posts start off polite, concise, open to suggestion and end up like THEBEAST post at the end!

I read several pages. I hope someone with even less of a life than me can read all of them and tell me --

Is the question "does customer service like this exist in the USA" asked because

eventually everything is taken care of, so we should hope it does exist here,
or
because we hope it does not exist here as the thread continues in the same effete vein, showing how incorrigibly polite and restrained the English are in not committing some really violent acts upon the poor victim who was assigned the task of shovelling this manure for his company?

How's the story end, guys?
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Hundreds of buyers of Tiny Plasmas are not happy.
One is a laywer and is taking matters further.
Tiny plasma owners are having major problems and i feel if this happened in any other country there would be a major investigation.
One main point is that Tiny claim to MAKE and DESIGN these plasmas in the U.K with the latest generation samsung Glass. And that they are cheaper because they cut out the middle companies and are every bit as good as more costly brands.
Some Tiny plasma owners think they are just rebadged cheap plasma not at the spec Tiny claim and are going to court to have there case heard.
Tiny have had a massive advertising campain and many have bought on the basis of the adverts.
Tiny started answering customer queries on the forum then stopped giving no reason why.
There is a common shearing fault for many Tiny owners.
Tiny dont appear to deliver goods on the days they say they will for many customers. [Link: avforums.com]

I have no problem with any company selling budget products. You can say they are great value. But how good value is it ,if you dont get a reliable, working ,delivered on time product?
The price difference between the budget products to major brands is as little as a couple of hundred pounds.
Thats what i call value!

As this is the Home Theatre forum i would encourage everyone considering purchasing any products to do in depth research. Not just mag reviews or advertisments. That is why forums such as these are so valuble.I read many of the type of post such as I've bought X and can i do Y? It would /could save you serious time and money to find out first.
But hey we all make mistakes

As you say, one cannot stress too highly the need for research. At the moment I'm still persevering with a standard TV. Yes, I would like a plasma (a projector is definitely out of the question), but have found that unless I'm prepared to part with truly serious money, I'm not likely to beat the picture quality I'm already getting.

I was already aware of the TINY issue and would advise anyone to stay well clear.

Why doesn't it happen in the US?

Because the scum that does this sort of stuff, closes their doors before the process can get to them.

Dang hard to file a lawsuit against a Brooklyn, NY mail forwarding company....

Otherwise intelligent people will for some reason think that there is a company that will sell that PDP for 2-3K less than the local BB, CC, or even Wally World?

Greed is what drives these idiots to lose 3-4K in search of the "holy bargain".....lol

Otherwise intelligent people sure do have some funny ideas! How cheap will Plasmas end up selling for?? The crystal ball just ain't that clear.I still rue the day six or seven years ago when I said to a friend 'You'll never buy a DVD under $1000' And he has Never let me forget it either! Premium panels will always sell for a premium price

Panasonic TH-42PWD7BS £1524.99 2,850.76 USD

Tiny Focus 4300 42" Plasma £1599.00 2,989.30 USD

O.K. the Panasonic doesn’t have a Tuner or speakers but as you can see its NOT about the price it’s about how Tiny have advertised the quality of the Tiny plasma and it’s true origin. Tiny’s claim that there “Designed and made “Tiny plasmas as being just as good but better value. Plasma screens are still more expensive here in the UK than in the U.S.A. but the Tiny plasma isn’t that cheap as you can see.

yep... seen the advert in various magazines / papers
*claiming* they make their own kit.

it seems the general population (of the good old 'uk) who want 42" plasma, they also want the tuner, the speakers and a stand ... what i think people dont understand is it pays to buy from a reputable manufacturer (panasonic etc). all they see is 'it comes with this and that free, so it must be good'

i agree that if you pay for something you should get an item that is fit for the purpose, but there has to be a compromise somewhere, and that usually lies with build quality and / or customer service.

and whats more, tiny even charge you £100 just to deliver it!
Jonathan.

AV mags have a lot to answer for.
budget DVD players and plasmas are often given reviews that would make you think there was nothing better out there or that it isn't worth paying more.

I'm not as i have been called on UK forums "A brand Tart" but when a DVD player gets 5 out of 5 stars and fantastic review at £24.95 and is sold in your local supermarket .The mag doesnt point out its brilliant for the money BUT you can get better, much better if you care about picture and sound and back up service for a few £ more. They often have headlines like "why pay more?"

When you buy NO frills/smart price supermarket own brand jaffa cakes for example they do taste like the origional because it is just the packaging(i know as i know someone who works for Mc vities)
Tiny are using this concept with Plasmas oh they are the same put in different packaging but they arent made by the leading manufacturers. The after service (when you need it most),from the comments of customers is very poor.
