Hi
I am running a 5.1 surround system run by a sony receiver (for my sins - and yes i am going to be changing this!)
However, my rear surrounds seems to be crackly and not very clear, I have gone thru the receiver's settings and tried to correct this but to no avail. Can anyone out there suggest what they may think is the cause. Is it just a case that my sone receiver just isnt good enough and by changing this it will correct it?
Thanks in advance
Mike

What kind of speakers are they, what kind of speaker wire, is it ran in the wall? I would first think about all these things before pointing the finger at the receiver. If something is wrong with the wiring, then any receiver would suffer from the same problems regardless of the manufacturer.

I would look into the wiring... Gauge? How it is connected to the reciever or the speakers... make sure it is a good connection not shorting out etc... maybe try one at a time.... switching the fronts to the rears and vice versa.... get creative... if it still happens maybe the sony is bunk?

They are just tiny satellite speakers running off standard speaker wire running under carpet.
I will check out my connections tonight and go from there.
Thanks for the advice guys :D

Most of those tiny satellites sound scratchy and unclear right out of the box to my ears.

Have seen (heard) same symptoms many times with Sony (no baloney) receivers....no fix for this. Even called Sony service (oxymoron), they said this was normal. We were using Paradigm ADP 170s. TJG
