Just wondering what other people thought of Panamax service. I sent my 1000+ in January 9th and have not heard from them. My RMA shows they received it the 14th of January. Their web site said the were going to replace it with the 4300. I feel this is a down grade, as it does not have delayed turn on/ off outlets. They wanted me to pay to get the 5300 which I believe is closer to my orginal unit. Just wanted to vent, thanks for listening.

p.s. I been a longtime lurker of this site since the Sony released the rm-av2000. Just want to thank Dan for this great forum.

Panamax has a great reputation for service. I'd try calling them and asking for a higher-up with whom to discuss your concerns.

your direct replacement would actually be the 5100, I too have the 1000+, and the 5100 came out shortly after I got my 1000+ and was kicking my self for not waiting, the 5100 is full size, and has high current outlets.

I have had the exact same problem with Panamax for one fo my clients. The "life-time guaranty" is a scam because they will not give you a comparable unit to replace it with! Talking to higher-ups did absolutly NO good. We have refused to deal with them since.

I'm sorry to tell you this, but you got hosed. They have got you by the short n' curlies. I feel for you.

Called Panamax today since they didn't return my e-mail. Sending me a 4300. Your right 2 Channel the 5100 is the proper match. They wanted $150 dollars for that unit, which is 50 points of list. Not much of a deal, probally covers their cost and still gives them profit. Also the new unit only comes with a 3 year warranty. I always wondered whose lifetime a lifetime warranty covered, mine, the products or companies. They told me they entered my return wrong that is way it took so long. Didn't want to talk about how I felt I was being downgraded. Any suggestion on how to make my amps have delayed turn on/ off since this unit does not do this. My Adcom 5500 and 5503 make too much thump if they turn on with the pre-amp. I know I should have gotten the 5100 but I'm stubborn and it was the principle. Also don't suggest munster!

Gripe session over.

leave them on! I have a few adcom pieces too, and by keeping them on you keep the caps energized at all times and warmed up. I would suggest NOT plugging ANY amp into ANY line conditioner unless you are laying out lots of $$$$$ as most line conditioners (for amplifiers, that is) do nothing but constrict the power getting to the amp, which in turn will reduce your transient response times, and reduce the quality of your soundstage, just give it a try yourself, try running your system at a good clip after it has warmed up plugged into the line conditioner, then unplug the amps from the line conditioner and go straight to the wall. I will say that there are benefits to having your pre, and/or source components connected to a line conditioner and an upgrade to the power cord of your digital audio components will also make a significant difference. I HAVE DERAILED, anyway thats my 02

I don't see any reason to plug your quality amp into a 'munster, high dollar 'power strip'. It won't be protected from anything anyway!!!

Sorry for your experience with panamax!

Maybe if they offered a 20 cent item for $500, they could give a little more.

It still s**ks!! though!!

Leave the amps plugged in. I have three bryston amps power my equipment (5Bst for LCR, 3Bst for the rears, 3Bst for the Multi room). I never turn them off.
