I just bought a HP z545 Digital Media Center. I am trying to program my Pronto and everything works fine except the arrow keys and the page up/down keys. They will only work the first time you press. If you are trying to page down in the Guide it will work once but then will not repeat. I tried to program a different remote and ran into the same problem.

Anyone have a possible solution?

Thanks.

It was, thanks. Here is the post that helped me solve the issue.

As people have accurately surmized, the media center remote actually alternates remote codes when a button is pressed. The media center IR driver can use this fact to debounce key presses. The effectively causes the behavior most folks are seeing in that the pronto (and likely other learning remotes) learn only one of the two codes and the IR driver will only accept it once because it is waiting for the alternate code so it can be sure a 2nd key press was made.

The good news is that there's a registry entry to enable/disable this debouncing behavior in the IR driver. All you need to do is disable it and the pronto and other universal remotes should work fine.

The registry key to disable it is

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\idIr\Remotes\745a17a0-74d3-11d0-b6fe-00a0c90f57da]

You should see a DWORD key called "EnableDebounce". You'll notice it's set to 1. Set it to 0 to disable debouncing.

You'll need to reboot the computer to have this registry change take effect.

I have a Pronto Neo and want it to control Vista Media Center. I changed the "debounce" setting in the registry and was able to grab some hex codes from another forum here... While the codes I have programmed work okay, each button press sometimes ends up being doubled, causing the an extra "up or down" scroll or "enter" command. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to tweak this or does anyone have any better hex codes to share?

Thanks,

Cory

Yes, I have a few suggestions.

First: Don't ressurect 5 y/o posts unless you have something relevant to add to it.
Second: Post in correct forum, in this case then Pronto forum.
Third: Don't double post, it's just rude.

I see you did do a search for your problem, but, not finding an answer, you should have gone ahead and posted a new thread in the correct forum.
