Trying to decide between these two RP HDTVs. Choice limited because of local availability and the fact that I *require* a _black_ TV.

After adding 5 year warranty and all taxes, the Toshiba is $300 more, but is 5" larger and is _all_ black while the Hitachi is _mostly_ black, but has a slight silver trim.

Any comments please?

Only black? Yeah, I hate silver too, but these days there's little choice... I ended up with silver. :-)

5" is a bigger difference than you might think... and the Toshiba DOES have a HDMI input. Although, the Hitachi is a less bulky, boxy design.

Hi Daniel, thanks for the reply. Yep, gonna go for the Toshiba; it actually is all black. My present 27" TV is black, and all of my other components are black; even the digital cable box.

Many, many years ago, when the manufacturers changed from silver to black, my components were all silver--and over time I converted to all black at great expense. I have no desire, nor can I afford, to go through that again. Must confess, though, that I _do_ have a Sony RM-VL900 remote, which is silver. ALL of my other (seemingly dozens of) remotes, including the RM-VL700, are black.

At least today's silver isn't quite as bad as 80's silver/aluminum.
