Hi all.
After christmas i shall be moving house and have decided to upgrade my cinema system. My current system consists of:
Samsung 42" r'projection tv (with component)...brilliant tv
Sony DAVS550 home theatre System, also with component
Philips Touch screen remote control...
I am looking to purchase the new mordant short premier speaker package but want to find a decent amp to hook them up to. What are the reviews of the Harmon Kardon amps. Why do they have such low wattage?
All feedback will be grately appreciated..

I would look at Adcom or B&K,

If you are looking for a receiver I would go for Denon, Onkyo, or integra. If you are looking for a pre/pro adcom is decently priced and look at brytson. Bryston IMO has the best amps on the market.

HK amps have low power ratings because they are class A amplifiers, not class AB.
Dont worry about power ratings, its basiclly a usless indication of performance. To increase dB output by 3dB you have to double amplifier output power. For the Mordants you would come out better with a seperate Pre/Pro and amplifier. Something around 150 watts per channel would do nicely. B&K would sound sweet with them. Krell would be a nice choice as well. If you are going receiver based Integra works well. I havent heard them on Denon. Onkyo is a lower quality version of Integra. Spend the extra and get the better warranty and features.

what is your budget. Check out Outlaw Audio. Bank for buck they are the best in that price range. I used them for a while but needed more ooomph for my quads and got a "bob carver" Sunfire. I just love the sound they produce. And dam can they crack it up when your music demands it. All in it is all about the budget. if you want separates it gets more pricey. But delivers more. You can with care full reviews and research find an absolute killer system that matches your budget. Do not forget to add the price for interconnects.
