I have a Daewoo DP-42SM plasma and to switch it's inputs it only has a single button to toggle between them. I am about to purchase the Home Theater Master MX-800. All my equipment is housed in a closed rack. My NAD does the video switching for most of my stuff (all component based inputs/outputs) all but Tivo, which still requires me to use S-Video. Now my question is how do I create a macro that changes the Plasma screens input to a specific source if I only have one button to toggle between them. I am trying to stay away from spending another $500 for an up-converter that will make my s-video into progressive component just for Tivo. I have searched high and low to get more info on the Daewoo DP-42SM remote codes to see if it is based on any other brand that might work with specific inputs.

Here is list of inputs it toggles through in order:
1. S-Video (1) In.
2. S-Video (2) In.
3. PC (VGA) in.
4. Component (1) In.
5. Component (2) In.

I only want to switch between Component 1 and S-Video 1 really. The best way I can think of now "hack wise" is to make 2 macro's one that switches inputs 3 times and one that does it twice. But if the input changes at any time for any reason "wife changes it on the Plasma itself" or power goes off and revert to Input 1. Then the sequence would be out of whack.

I would really appreciate all help on this. This is my first post and I am looking forward in spending more time here. It seems like a great community of people.

*** Update. So it seems that the Daewoo shares 90% of the same codes as a Audiovox TV. I am trying to see which 4 digit TV code is the main one on my Daewoo and then see which other Manufacturer uses that codes. The look to see if there TV remote has the seperate buttons. And then try and get a code dump to see what signal it sends. Man looks like this might take some time. ;)

did I mention "and then" enough. reminds me of the band camp story.

can you disable the unused inputs? usualy menu driven under input label or name. that is your best hope. it would be worth every penny to go with the up conversion reather then deal with sync issues

I take it this is a monitor, not a TV. If it were a TV, channel + might anchor you to TV channels, so you could make macros that started there and ended at the proper input.

Is there NO button that will ALWAYS take you to the same input? That is what you need, or you will have to end up just putting the Video button on each compopnent panel and manually hitting it the right amount of times each time you switch. Since you will only need to hit it at all when you switch to and away from TiVo, you won't really be using that button too often.

Another idea just hit me -- since you only need to change the input for the TiVo, have the TiVo select button macro include two VIDEO pushes, and put an EXIT button on one of the TiVo panels; that EXIT button would switch you back to component, then flip back to the main page so you could select components. This way, the plasma is in COMPONENT 1 all the time except after you select TiVo, and the EXIT puts it back to COMPONENT 1.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I ended Up getting a DVDO iscan that turns svideo into component and cleans up the TIVO a bit. expensive solution just to let "wifey really" switch inputs more easily. But it seems to work great with the rest of the system. It is small and compact and has allot of customization settings.

Some things are just made toggle only (bad)
No offense, but from what I know about Daewoo, it probably is a TOAD
The lower end plasmas out there probably have first generation e-proms, the ones w/o discretes.
Ive tried toggling in my macros, but it is always a train wreck, even with an occasional anchor.

Finding upconversion on your AV receiver would be the solution with the best/ most efficient performance (really I think so for any system, regardless of equipment.) Switching inputs becomes instant, makes having a TOAD no big deal.
