Hi, I have a home theater with several components, amongst them 3 DVD-changers, 1 CD-changer and 2 satellite receivers. I presently use a Marantz RC 9200 to control everything with the help of SuperNudeList. This gives me pretty good control of the system, but I still feel there is a lack of a really intuitive and user friendly graphical interface, and this causes problems when others use it. Particularly it seems that women often have a problem associating their knowledge of a movie with a title, but once they see the cover they know what it's about. I would therefore like to build a system where I can present the DVD and CD covers (as well as satellite channel logos) on a computerscreen and use this to select a title/channel. I know that there are expensive hardware systems that can to this, and also that a program like Movies! have some of this functionality. However, I would like to build something from scratch myself that can do everything within one system.

Can anyone tell me whether there exists a hardware/software solution that will allow me to learn, edit, and send IR commands much like the RC Edit/Pronto Edit works today?

Why not just import CD and DVD covers to your remote? I have a ProntoPro and have all of my DVD covers and plot summaries per movie on my ccf. I could do the same with my CDs, but that would be A LOT of work.
Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity

That's just it, the amount of work involved seems too much. If SNL allowed me to import thumbnails from DVD Profiler it would help, but also I doubt that I have enough memory, as I have around 800 DVDs and 200 CDs and counting..

If there was somthing like SNL for the MX-3000 and a graphics option I would consider a switch, but until then I think I need to use a PC.
