I bought the Denon 3805 receiver last night from Tweeters. I stayed up all night getting it up and running. My question is how do you change the input with the remote? If I want to watch a DVD, I have to change the input at the receiver using the function control or if I want to go back to anything else I have
to do it at the receiver. Has anyone else had this problem or am I just missing something. Thanks for any
help!

I must be missing something too because I think the remote sucks. Basically that remote makes a Pronto an easy sell. Button density is too great and that function shift key kills it entirely.

After fooling with the remote for about two hours,
it's very easy to change the source. Push whatever source you want! The remote is not a strong selling
point with this receiver. One other question about this receiver. Can the display letters be changed say from DBS to cable?

Never mind about my last question, the remote died. I agree the remote sucks, it also makes me wonder about the receiver. I will carry the 3805 back and just stick with my Integra 5.3.

The receiver is great. I plan on cutting out Onkyo(Integra) and using the Denon more often.

After my remote died, I had another problem. I could not adjust the volume on my subwoofer low enough. I was about ready to box it all up, when I decided to go to Tweeters and see if they could tell me what was going on. They ended up replacing the remote and then sold me the microphone for the auto setup. After doing the auto setup, the whole system sounded great. I could not be more pleased with the 3805...well maybe I could if they would do something about the remote. Like the guy said, the remote sucks!

WHAT ?! !? !?

I thought the comments on the remote were bad, but this has autosetup and does not come with a mike?
Yamaha receivers, Pioneer receivers, even Velodyne subwoofers come with their own microphones for the autosetup. How the heck can you do an autosetup if the receiver does not come with a mike?
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Go figure...the Denon 2805 comes with the mike? It should be included with the 3805, you would think.

I wrote Denon about the microphone issue and they said it all had to do with the "price point" of both receivers. They would have to raise the price on the 3805, but they could include it with the 2805. I may be wrong, but if they sell this mike for $65, they probably have $10 in it. Oh my, such a tight "price point". Give me a break...

I have sold many AVR2805 and AVR3805. The Microphones have come with both of the units. In fact I just hooked up a 2805 yesterday and it did have the microphone. Also I have run into the problem with the 3805 remote control. On one remote the backlight would not even work. On the other one I could not change sources. The customer in both instances was going to be unsing a home theater master remote control. I always sell at least a MX700 when selling a receiver for around 1000 bucks. It is easier on the customer.

vwpower44,

Where are you selling these Denon's at? I'm here in the US and I just bought one from an authorized dealer and it didn't come with the mic. The 2805 however, does come with the mic.

Either your outside the US or they just recently started including the mic with the denon 3805.

FYI, Denon has released a new remote for the 3805. The new one has a blue touchpad instead of the original black touchpad. For those of you who have the old remote, you can call denon and give them your receivers serial number and they will give you an RMA # to return your original remote. Once they get your original remote they will ship you a new one with the blue touchpad.

I don't know if the new remote solves all of the problems people are having but I understand it is easier to read in bright light.

I an in Cincinnati, selling both 3805 and 2805 with the mics in factory s4ealed box. We are a Denon authorized retailer. The ones that I have installed in the past two months have come with the setup mic.

vwpower44,

Can you find out what's going on with this issue on the mic? I bought one from an authorized dealer after I bought the 3805 which didn't come with the mic. I know there were numerous consumer complaints about having to pay an additional $60.00 for the mic on the Denon 3805. I know that all the 2805s come with the mic.

I like Denon products but am hesitant to purchase their products in the future due to their poor customer/technical support. When they moved all their tech support to one location things went downhill fast! Even the authorized dealer is complaining about their support. He used to get first rate support and now he gots no support.

I've emailed and called them more times then I care to count on technical issues which the authorized dealer can't answer. I have yet to receive a response from Denon.

What kind of luck are you having when you need an answer from Denon?
